Recently, I had a discussion with a group of amazing women on writing, why we all should write, and what writings from brown women can do.

For me, it is always hard to write, I judge myself wanting my piece to be perfect, with the best use of language, but one of the attendees told me “the world is not waiting for your perfect sentence. but the world is waiting for your contribution”. I couldn’t stop thinking about this sentence, and the feeling of confidence, energy and strength it gave me.

“the world is not waiting for your perfect sentence. but the world is waiting for your contribution”

We were reading for Gloria Anzaldua, who wrote a letter to third world women, asking them to write, to challenge the white dominance and write.

“who am I, a poor Chicanita from the sticks, to think I could write? “— Gloria Anzaldua
